The Executive Chairman of Ahiazu LGA, Chief Larry Obinna Chikwe has appointed Dr. Nnorom Emecheta as his Senior Special Assistant media.
The recent appointment of Dr. Nnorom Emecheta, a veteran broadcast journalist with many years of career service with the NTA has been described as a round peg in a round hole.
Reacting to this development, former Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Imo State Council, Chief Fidel Onyeneke expressed appreciation to Chief Chikwe for identifying with the union through the appointment of Dr Nnorom Emecheta who is an experienced journalist as his SSA Media.
In a statement, the executive chairman of the local government, Chief Larry Chikwe said he looked out for someone who is more experienced and well qualified in media matters to be in charge of his Media needs and services in the local government.
Chief Chikwe expressed satisfaction with the coming on board of Dr. Emecheta whom he said would assist him in showcasing the mission and vision of his administration in Ahiazu LGA. He urged his new appointee to live up to the mandate given to him.
Responding, the new SSA to the executive chairman on media, Dr. Nnorom Emecheta thanked Chief Larry Chikwe for finding him capable of being part of the team that he has assembled to enable him to take Ahiazu-Mbaise LGA and her people to the next level of both infrastructural and human development.
Dr. Emecheta gave an assurance that in addition to ensuring that his wealth of experience and knowledge in the field of journalism and mass communication would bear on frequent publicity of the people-oriented projects and activity that the Chikwe administration has embarked upon since last year, he would also work towards making Chief Chikwe the number one friend of the media in Imo State.
Dr. Nnorom Emecheta retired from NTA as Manager News and Current Affairs. He is a part-time lecturer in the department of Mass Communication, Federal polytechnic Nekede.
